It is known that Manzana Kempinski will be run by leading luxury hotel group Kempinski Europe of Switzerland. The hotel will have 246 rooms with 172 standard rooms and will provide a shopping mall with world famous brands such as Mango, Gucci and Lacoste.
This is a 100% Cuban-owned project owned by the state-owned tourism group Gaviota and co-developed by the Almest construction companies of Cuba and Bouygues of France.
According to investment director Almest Orlando Oramas, this project has a tremendous heritage value as it is a refurbished and upgraded hotel on La Habana's first major shopping mall, Manzana de Gomez. By Cuban architect Jose Gomez-Mena Vila designed and built between 1894 and 1917 in the style of European architecture of that era.
Mr Oramas added that Cuba will soon open two more luxury hotels in the historic center of La Habana, with 300 rooms and 208 rooms in preparation for tourist arrivals. Expected to reach 4.2 million people this year.
For the first time in 2016, Cuba welcomed 4 million visitors, marking a record 14.5% growth.
